Phillip Martin 3:32 PM (1 hour ago) Progress Texas The letter from Phillip as addressed to me reads as follows: When the Tea Party legislature slashed education funding by FIVE BILLION DOLLARS, school districts from all over Texas sued the state over unfunded mandates...and the state lost. During the lawsuit, Greg Abbott defended the cuts in court and can still appeal the decision. Greg Abbott has the power to fix school funding now - why wont he do it? When asked about the issue, he said he could not take action to fix school funding and wrongly tried to blame Wendy Davis for a law that was originally passed in 2007 - before she was even elected to the legislature in 2008. We looked a the law, and no surprise - Greg Abbott was wrong about that, too. That law allows the Attorney General to negotiate agreements and recommend them to the legislature for approval. But without action, Greg Abbott is the only obstacle between classrooms and the funding they need. Now that weve done the research for him, will he do the right thing? Texans deserve an answer.
