Subject: Help for a local student competing in a National Speech Contest in June Harry, First, let me apologize for this long overdue email. It seems the weeks have gotten away from me, and although Emily, Hannah, and I have spoken about how wonderful the experience with the toastmasters was for all of us, I have yet to express that gratitude to you and your group properly. That being said, thank you so much for the unbelievable opportunity you provided first for Emily, and then for Hannah, as well. I greatly appreciated how welcome you made our family feel and the great attention, and constructive criticism you all provided to Emily. Both girls left your meeting feeling extremely accomplished and still have their best speech and best table topic papers displayed in the bedrooms. Emily left your meeting with a clear sense of what she needed to work on; purposeful movement, reigniting the passion behind her words, connecting better with her audience, and making her final words impactful and obvious. With all of that in mind, she went to work. She spent many hours practicing and reworking her presentation and I am happy to say it all paid off. She had a fantastic experience at the National Junior Beta Convention in Mobile, AL. The talent was unbelievable. There were 31 total speakers in her competition, all of which place 1st - 3rd in their state competitions. We were blown away. With your help, Emily brought home 3rd place in the Nation, and a great sense of accomplishment. She enjoyed it so much, she plans to compete again in speech at her state competition in December, and plans to run for state officer for the Junior Beta organization. The Lake Sentinel interviewed Emily about her accomplishment and is running an article about her, as well, this Sunday. Thanks again for all of your help and support.
