This evening I watched the Christmas classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer as I have many times. No matter how many times I view this movie it is always good. Yet while watching the scene of the toys on The Island of Misfit Toys it reminded me of life itself. You see like the toys, we all feel at times that we just never fit in or are imperfect in some way, thereby making us not worthy of God or His blessings in our life. But just as with the toys, God comes to where we are and picks us up from our lowly state and elevates us to a different status. As with the toys, it is not because we have done something special, or have deserved it, but its because of Gods grace and not by our works. Paul spoke of this very work of God in our lives when he wrote to the Ephesian Church and said: For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is Gods gift--not from works, so that no one could boast (Ephesians 2:8-9).
