This evening, at 7:20 pm, my grandfather passed away after an 88 year bout of giving food to everyone that entered his house until they were full, working on the Maumee River, terrifying the neighborhood children, finding the perfect bananas at the supermarket, eating popcorn, drinking coffee at every meal, giving away every thing within arm reach, serving his country in the Navy, eating bacon for every breakfast, sighing loudly when people said crazy things, and being a father, grandfather, son, and uncle. He will be remembered by some for only being 53 but he will be remembered by most for having such a large personality for such a short guy. He is proceeded in death by his wife of 64 years. They were only apart for 9 weeks. Thats actually a very long time. So- be happy they are reunited. When news of his passing reached his yard, the plants rejoiced. A lover of yard work, One time my grandfather trimmed a tree so much he killed it. Capt. John Toth is survived by thousand of memories and anecdotes.
