This evening brought yet another blow to sanity in the War On Police....my partner and I observed a vehicle driving on a busy road without headlights on (yes it was night). We stopped the car and the driver refused to roll down his window more than about an inch....he said he didnt trust us and was too afraid to roll the window down After collecting documents and ensuring this wasnt some Americas most wanted reject, it was decided the best way to avoid any issues regarding the stop (at this point you may insert the you only stopped me because Im -------- of your choice) was to issues the driver a citation for driving without his headlights on. When it came time to sign the citation this terrified citizen was on speaker phone with his dial a lawyer and began to position himself to refuse signing. While it would have been immensely gratifying to pull him out of the 1 opening into the window and take him to jail...additional time was spent once again explaining the reason for the stop. He asked if he could verify his lights werent functional, (because Of course he was singled out for some other nefarious reason) we allowed him to exit the vehicle....amazingly he apologized and signed the citation.... The truly crazy part of the story is since he was almost home and was NOT an AMW REJECT, had a license etc, I more likely than not would have advised him of the problem and let him go home...but because of his media instilled fear the situation just got stupid... Nice job media, how are those protests working for you....because for me its not going so well -Doc
