This evening some of our team went out to Blacktown Arts Centre to an Art exhibition called Stitching by the sea. The exhibition focuses on the storytelling traditions and narratives contained within the cultural practices and ancestral objects of the people of the Pacific. When we run our Cultural Identity projects for children and Youth we implement Samoan weaving and when we do this we work with our friend and Samoan artist Polu Gooding who had 2 pieces showing tonight at the exhibition. It was great to see all the Pacific talent that was being displayed, good to seed the musical items and dances too. Its great that the future generations of Pacific people have the opportunities to attend events like this one and have the opportunities to learn about their culture and history. #SVSGSYDNEY #STITCHINGBYTHESEA #SAMOANWEAVE #FINAO
