This evening the House passed legislation that prevents a government shutdown and provides discretionary funding for the vast majority of the federal government through September 2015. While it is far from perfect, this legislation includes a number of important Republican priorities, including significant cuts to the EPA and IRS. In addition to these cuts, the bill funds the Department of Homeland Security until the beginning of next year. Then, Republicans will have control of the House and the Senate and we will have the strength we need to fight the President’s executive overreach on immigration. I remain strongly opposed to the President’s unconstitutional executive amnesty and I look forward to strategically fighting against his amnesty plan early next month in the beginning of the new Congress.
