This federal law class I am taking has really opened my eyes to the reality of what our people face and have gone through. Yes I know we have high rates of death, suicide, addictions, quote un quote dysfunction. I know we have suffered under the hands of those the early churchs sent, those that were sent by BIA for schools, trappers, hunters, gold miners, bringers of the great death (influenza epidemic) and disease small pox too many to list. Its equivalent to genocide in our own land our own homes, there were and still are kids scared of what is gonna happen next, who is gonna bring the next bottle booze in the door, who is going to explode in anger because of PTSD from said traumas. Who will I bury next in my family, scared to answer the phone late at night. How come people look at us funny, do they think I am stink, do they think I am my diagnosis? Is there help if I got to the hospital? I was hurt by what Ive heard doctors say about our people, the way people talk, tone of voice, body language I see by those put in charge of my hopes and dreams, people put in high power positions, people who say they care but are so narcissistic they cant see past the reflection in the mirror. I know we have come this far, we have not lost love of our culture, love of our people, love of our family ties to the past. We will prevail, we will overcome, we can unite and break the silence of the past and hurts. We will idle no more, we will rise up in our homes and work places, places of education and places where we walk, I hope our people can become such great people that when we put our feet on the ground it wakes those spirits that hurt us, not in a bad way, I dont want revenge, I dont want to cause hurt or pay back. I just want our people to heal, I want to heal, I want my kids to not have to deal with personalities like I have, I will teach them about people like you, yes you, you know who you are in your heart. I say this in the name of my creator Jesus, father son and holy ghost. I dont say this spitefully I say this with a grain of salt. Lord you know my heart dreams and desires. AMEN!
