This four month old girl miniature goat is a special creature. Shortly after being born one of twins a horse injured her left rear hoof. We treated the leg with a garden hose splint and bandage and with little complaining hobbled off. Now, with a healthy sibling and a bumb leg nursing would unlikely to happen. She managed to sneak a couple moments at the breast but was looking weak. Dinah had to literally tie the mother to the fence so the damaged reject could get adequate nutrition. Within a couple weeks she got under foot of the horses and cracked a couple more bones in the healthy leg. She would drag her hind legs across the field with incredible fortitude. WIthin a few days something even more unexpected happened, her healthy sister became too familiar with new horse and was kicked dying shorlty after. Over the next few weeks she needed a lot of help being fed but gradually her mother allowed her to nurse most of the time. And now, still making the best of it and shes having a good time.
