This from a friend of mine (Ill leave the choice to claim authorship here up to him). I copied and pasted instead of sharing due to FB saying that his privacy settings would mean that some folks wouldnt be able to see it and I wanted to make sure it is PUBLIC to ALL since it expresses my OWN feelings perfectly Now is a great time make my yearly admonition on holiday greetings. If you are at a store, or restaurant, or office, and someone wishes you merry Christmas, they are not preaching to you. If someone instead says to you happy holidays, they are not engaged in a war on Christianity. If youre offended by a religious greeting, youre a jerk. If youre offended by a secular or universal greeting, youre a jerk. Its the time of year when people are trying to be nice to you in the midst of a lot of hard work, chaos, family drama, and bad weather. Civilized society depends on you being nice back. Simply say thank you. If you dont believe and dont care, have a nice day will suffice. Were coming to shop, not worship. We dont need office policies on this crap. To the extent there is a policy, boycotting Target over their happy holidays greeting will not make Jesus smile. Jesus would tell you youre being a jerk. Knock it off, pray, rejoice, or just drink some booze and eat a lot of food. Whatever it is you do, just be kind to others. Thanks.
