This goes right along with what I spoke about at IRAPS this weekend. Strength athletes, endurance athletes, high level cross fitters, and athletes from sports that focus on pushing the human body to extremes understand how important recovery is, and have a great appreciation for chiropractic. In this video Brandon Lilly talks about how important chiropractic is for him and speaks about it from a musculoskeletal standpoint. The musculoskeletal benefits are obvious for anyone who trains like this and sees a chiropractor, but the next dimension for us to go as chiropractors is objectively showing the changes an adjustment can make in the autonomic nervous system. Heavy training has a major influence on the Sympathetic Nervous system, and adequate recovery is largely a parasympathetic function (another reason why sleeping and eating is so important). This could be an exciting new frontier in Chiropractic research to focus on the topic of human performance and potential rather than a symptom based allopathic model!!!!!
