This gorgeous Boerbul Puppy came into our SPCA on 26th December from Pinetown as a stray with a deformed hind leg. The toes seemed to have been severed either by accident or maliciously but it was a clean cut. The puppy was non weight bearing and was in pain. Antibiotics and pain medication was administered for seven days and the wound was dressed and changed daily. Due to the severity of the injury it was decided that an amputation was the only option. The surgery was performed on Wednesday 7th January by Dr. Shantelle Naidoo. The procedure went flawlessly and the puppy is recovering well. During the procedure, Dr Naidoo discovered that the femur head was fractured so therefore the decision to do the amputation was vindicated. The puppy will soon be available for adoption.
