This group is a great idea for sparking conversation. Bracebridge is a great town with great heritage, and lots of appeal. And if no one saw this (travel.nationalgeographic/travel/best-trips-summer-2011-photos/) that’s something to be damn proud about! There is a lot of talk that Bracebridge needs is a “festival” Does anyone remember these festivals? - The Fall Fair - The Cavalcade of Colour - The Winter Carnival - Mariposa Music Festival (Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince was there!) - River Fest (Which then got moved to the beautiful views of hwy 11) These are just naming a few of the events that existed in Bracebrige. Mariposa, and River Fest took advantage of something that Bracebridge has unique. A river running though it – But of course it was the complaints of just a few, that were enough to have these events deleted off the calendar. These events brought major headliners, and tourists into the town. Much love goes out to The Beer Festival, and the Comedy Festival, for keeping their events alive. But even these events are expanding beyond Bracebridge! Festivals are a vibrant thing to add to a community – however - not when they are jammed out on hwy 11, you can not please everyone, but the powers should get their tails out from their legs and maybe piss off a few, to do something to benefit the town. One thing Bracebridge has unique to it, is our natural surroundings. Lets utilize those! PS. Good move Hern on the page, and changing that picture! Ha.
