This group of about 30 small waders, Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, were seen landing along Bird Route No 1 (Wallagoot Lane, Kalaru). They arrived from Siberia in October and will remain here all summer prior to returning north to breed. Closer to the edge of the wetland where they were foraging, their ginger ‘cap’ was very evident. Yes, one has only one leg. Seeking food they could possibly be seen on any of our brackish or saline wetlands, including Panboola. Photos: Geoff Holden.
