This guy lost 300lbs eating the McDougall starch based way: low-fat plant-based whole-food starch-centered diet. I eat some fruit, plenty of vegetables, but mostly whole food starches. When I say "whole foods" I mean I eat my food in as close to the form nature made it as possible. When I say "starches" I mean foods like oats, barley, quinoa, rice, potatoes, pasta, beans, corn, squash, etc. I avoid processed foods as much as possible. I buy whole, organic grains and for the most part I cook and eat them whole. For bread, rolls, and pizza I start with whole organic wheat and mill it into flour by hand. Vegetables I eat raw or lightly steamed. I do not eat animal products. In general I do not use any oils or fats in my cooking.
