This handsome guy is in Mt. Pleasant pound as an owner relinquish. This will be a long story, but this poor guy has been thrown away after he was protecting himself, and his owner/property. A few days ago, this dog was in his own yard with his owner and younger daughter. A big lab came into the yard an picked a fight with him. While the dogs were fighting, people were trying to get them apart, and the lab turned on the person and bit them, then the pitbull went back after the lab. Someone got a hold of a pellet gun and shot the dog in the behind, and one pellet hit him between the eyes, knocking him silly (not sure what happened to the lab). The owner thought he was dying, so she ask the police to take him and put him down. The dog was taken to the pound is just fine now, and the owner said to still put him down, she had been trying to re-home him anyway. This poor guy was just defending himself, and now he has no home, and the only option if we cant find a rescue is to put him down. The ACO says he is extremely mellow, and walks around happily at the pound while he gets the chores done. The ACO still feels he deserves a chance. There are other dogs at the pound as well, and he has not been aggressive at all through the kennels. I am going on Friday with a dog trainer who will give a good eval. Most likely he will be tested with another pit bull, and my Mastiff/hound. I wanted to post and network this poor guy now in case anyone can save him. Supposedly lived with other dogs in the owners home. Just my own opinion, but I am not too alarmed of this guys reaction, dogs cant always get along perfectly, but I know its hard to adopt out a dog who now has a history (my own dogs got in the quarrel this morning and I still love them though!). The pound will not hold him too much longer past Friday, after the evaluation. Thank you for considering him.
