This happened to be on FXM earlier tonight. I watched it—in sanitized form, no less—because its another one of those films that has a reputation as being one of the worst ever. Would I call it one of the worst ever made? Well, theres no questioning its bad, but I wouldnt call it one of THE WORST (thats what the likes of BATTLEFIELD [FREAKING] EARTH and FREDDY GOT FINGERED are for). Instead, I will call it a confused, jumbled mess of a movie where the chemistry between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopezs characters—or lack thereof—is extremely poor and any hope of a real romance between the two is automatically gutted when Lopez announces that shes a lesbian. Then theres the mentally-challenged Brian, who for the most part just kinda stands off to the side and does absolutely nothing of real value to the story while Affleck just yells at him for most of the movie. In addition, there is very little action in the film, which would have given the story some much-needed octane. So, in general, virtually everyone comes off as annoying and Tabasco gets some free right-off-the-label advertising. Thats this movie in a nutshell. But not the absolute disaster many critics have said it is.
