This happens to a lot of Filipinos as well I think … I well remeber my wife and I announcing our move plans at a party in her sister’s house in Florida. Most of the guests were Filipoino/former Filipino and most of them very ‘stuck into’ careers in the US. There were many who were openly shocked and disbelieving that anyone would go back to the Philippines by choice … I think many figured the move was caused by some financial disaster that I was hiding. The Philippines (or any other country) is not a place to move to ‘under duress’ … you may live cheap but you won’t like it.
