This has been a tough for 49er fans... the distractions of trading Harbaugh to Cleveland (the rumors started in February 2014), the legal issues of Aldon Smith and Ray McDonald (not to mention Kaepernick being questioned regarding the naked woman passed-out in his room), the injuries to all of those starters and all of those wasted draft choices (i.e. not packaging draft choices and trading up for serious talent)... yes, its been a tough year. For all those people who think Harbaugh should be fired for having a bad year, what exactly do you have to say about Trent Baalke, the man who provided Harbaugh with this roster? If the 49ers hire from within, they will be getting a Yes Man who would be willing to work for a fraction of the money paid to Harbaugh. I can only think that young Jed York, Dr. York and Trent Baalke will all feel like theyve died and gone to heaven... for the time being. If Jim Harbaugh has been that difficult to deal with, let me remind you at Lombardi and Walsh were both single-minded like Harbaugh. Games are won on the field and yet, ... just they were in Lombardis generation... but every winning team (Packers in the 60s, the Steelers in the 70s and the 49ers in the 80s) had a strong willed coach. So, if I might repeat... if Harbaugh is being fired for having such a bad year, what do you do with Baalke, aka the man with no plan? To quote this article: The 49ers also will be looking for someone who can get along well with G.M. Trent Baalke, who somehow has escaped scrutiny for the team’s collapse in 2014. If, as it appears, Baalke will be back, a far bigger factor than X’s and O’s will be whether the new coach can work and play well with his boss. profootballtalk.nbcsports/2014/12/20/49ers-could-be-looking-for-young-offensive-specialist-to-succeed-harbaugh/
