This has been bothering me so much for the past couple of days and it needs to be addressed. I am utterly disgusted by the argument that it is wrong for us to share pictures of those being brutally murdered. Wallahi this shows such a lack of true understanding. If we were really sensitive, we would be sensitive to the fact that the realities of these issues have been suppressed for years, not to the idea of their pictures being distributed on social media. Do not ignorantly speak about that which you know nothing about! -Omar (RAA) Who is taking these pictures my brother/sister? Who? Is it not the family members of the dead? Is it not the same brother and sister of yours in Gaza who is going through the bombing on a daily basis? You think they happily upload these images while sipping a cup of coffee? They upload these images because they ARE SCARED FOR THEIR LIVES. They upload these images because they know that they can be next. They upload these images because this is what they have to see on a daily basis and YOU, YOU are annoyed by the pictures? What makes you better than my brother and sister in Gaza? Why does my brother in Shujaiya have to see these pictures live with their own two eyes but you are too sensitive to spread it for them? Why does my sister seeking shelter in a UN school have to witness this with her own two eyes but then keep quiet about it because it does not help the cause? Please enlighten me. Let a family member from your own country overseas send a picture to you of a dying cousin and I DARE YOU, reject them when they ask you to share it. Wallahi I dare you. Lets see how realistic your request is. Then remember that we are all family as the Ummah of Muhammad (SAAW) and by you rejecting to share the images sent from across the world, you are essentially doing the same exact thing. Also, if my own family was being brutally murdered and nobody knew about it, I would want the entire world to know. Put yourself in their shoes. They want you to know. This is an outcry from your brothers and sisters, why the heck would you want to silence them? After reading this status, you still may not understand, and honestly YOU DO NOT HAVE TO. They are living a reality which you will never understand. How will we understand when all we do is sip on our coffee that has too much sugar while eating Boston Creme Donuts at Dunkin Donuts? How will we understand when all we do is play video games and watch movies (which are actually the REAL reason we are desensitized to death)? How will we understand when we are surrounded by a life of prosperity and bombarded by materialism and consumerism and remaining within the comfort of our homes without anyone bothering us or threatening our well-being or the well-being of our children? The answer is, most likely you will not. So because you will not, do not give an opinion on Facebook just to show that you are a critical-thinker and can think outside of the box. Use your energy for thinking about something else, because you are only becoming an obstacle to the movement. Recognize your limits and know that although you do not understand, you should not stop a movement that has raised SO MUCH awareness by the permission of Allah (SWT). Either support it or stay silent, what is being done is not Haram by any standard or morally incorrect. As the Prophet (SAAW) instructed us all Whomsoever believes in Allah (SWT) and the Last Day, should speak goodness or simply remain silent.
