This has been bugging me for a while. Anyone who knew Mr. Murray knows the plethora of things he did for Warren and the community. He was many things from a WWII vet, Police Officer to a teacher, and even a firefighter in between. Im just bothered that there has not to my knowledge been any real kind of recognition. Our department has retired his badge number and honored him with this plaque. I feel that so much more could and should be done. I spoke recently with friends regarding my disappointment with this issue. We agreed that it would be a great idea to name the area around the crosswalk that is in front of the Police Station in downtown Warren after Joe. Those who knew him will remember that even into his eighties, Joe would dawn his Police gear and man the crosswalk. I feel it would be proper and fitting to name the crosswalk or block, Joe Murray square or something to that affect. Unfortunately, I am not a town resident and therefore cannot petition the town. I am not sure exactly how to go about making this happen, however I think the town clerk could point us in the right direction. I am asking for your help, Town of Warren residents, in making this happen.
