This has been weighing on my mind for quite a while, so bear with me as I try to express my thoughts into written words. We read celebrity gossip, hateful comments about our President and his children, who looks ugly, who is fat, who had an ugly child, all of it without a thought of what they themselves or their children must feel reading these comments and this gossip. Although this isnt on the national level or isnt as even big-scale as any celebrity news, but lately Ive been reading a lot of hurtful comments about the President of ISGH. Who is my father. I could list all the good my dad has done for this city, for our masjid on Hwy 3, the masjid in Northshore, finally got awesome speakers for Eid. Never mind that he was given extreme grief that these speakers werent Arabs and Pakistanis but, *gasp* BLACK. But, this isnt about that. This is about the stuff I have to read on Muslim groups, where people are constantly spouting off about dont judge a girl if she isnt wearing hijab but feel nothing about trashing someones father, husband, grandfather. If he was truly such a horrible leader, he wouldnt be elected to any position in this organization, even after Rehan and I went to elections and voted against him. For the simple reason, I dont want him serving and I dont want him being stressed, harassed, trashed and have less time for us. A leader cannot tackle every single issue in his limited term. Obviously, Im a lot more selfish than he is. Yes, its our duty to serve our community, and hes done his duty. Many times over. Next time you want to laugh about someones hair, talk trash about someone online (yes, some of it is warranted and theyre seeking that attention, i.e. Kim K), write rude things in Muslims groups... just think, someone in their family, or even themselves will see it. And it hurts.
