This has just been released from College, and it demonstrates that Robb isnt going anywhere - and will only becoming better in a short period. Hello Everyone, The University announced last week that Robb College building will be vacated at the end of this Trimester to finally allow the much needed fire compliance and refurbishment work to commence over the summer break and early next year. There has been some miscommunication over the past few days but we are assured by the Vice Chancellor that the University is committed to the future and continuation of Robb College next year. Robb is one of the most prestigious and strongest agricultural colleges in Australia and will not falter even with a change of building. We would like to emphasize to the wider Robb Community the following positives we, being the JCR and SCR (Leadership Committees at Robb), view this move as: • That the University are completely committed to the future of Robb College, and to providing a better standard of living for all residents at Robb; • The University is spending $3 Million on the College and so when the renovations are complete the new Robb College Building will be a much better, safer place; • The relocation for 2015 is temporary and we will move back into Robb, hopefully in time for Trimester 2, 2015 - simply meaning only 4 months in different accomodation. • While we are relocated we will still be able to use our Dining Hall block, including our Junior Common Rooms and the Senior Common Room. We also hope to be able to use our courtyards and grass areas and will continue our Robb events and traditions such as our O-week activities, Robb Ball, North Court Luncheon etc; and • The University wants to try to relocate Robb as a college, and so we will aim to stay together, and to be located as close to Robb buildings as possible. Unity is everything at Robb College, the culture and traditions comes from the people not the buildings, and nothing shall change in 2015. Overall, this offers some certainty about the future of Robb, the University is fully committed to us. Robb College will stay the amazing college it is. Its the people that make the college, Robb, not the bricks and mortar. Wherever we are next year doesnt matter as we will still be together continuing on the traditions and values of Robb College together as a strong community. Next year promises to be one of our biggest years, our culture is as strong as ever, our sports teams are dominating and we soon could have a building (in a short period) whereby we will become the gem in the crown of UNEs accomodation. #ROLLONROBBCOLLEGE
