This has more to do the the Spanish PMs problems at home with allegations of corruption, unpopularity in the polls, the Catalan issue and a hostile rightwing press forcing his hand on barring a Catalan referendum. His argument also does not stack up as there is no provision in EU to remove a member state . Scotland has been a member for 40 years, is the EUs only nett oil and gas exporter, has the EUs largest fishing stocks and some 25% of its renewable potential ...only the most rabid and blinkered unionist would argue for exclusion . Also Rejoy would face another backlash of his own as an exluded Scotland would then prohibit Spanish boats from its waters. In the end cool heads and pragamitism will prevail as it is in no ones interest to exclude an Independent Scotland from the EU if it so wishes to join .
