This has to be one of the most horrendous audio clips recorded in recent history - assuming its legitimate. Pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine are informing each other that they shot down a Ukrainian cargo jet. Then they discover it wasnt a cargo jet - it was a civilian plane. Then they ask why a civilian plane was flying over that zone...saying that it must have included spies, and so deserved to be shot down. Sure enough, the thugs who shot down the plane are actual Cossacks. I dont know if they have any real connection to the infamous Cossacks of pre-Soviet times, or if they just took up the name for the fancy uniforms and the bloodthirsty reputation. For those not familiar with them, Cossacks were the ones who massacred Jews in the late 19th century and generally did the Czars dirty work. Remarkably, Stalin never exterminated them - if there was any sordid subset of Russian society that should have been eliminated from the face of the Earth, it was the Cossacks. And now they - or their wannabes - have returned to bring more bloodshed? Whatever you think of ethnic identities and loyalties in Ukraine, there is no doubt that the separatist group is a monstrous criminal and terrorist organization and needs to be isolated and brought to justice.
