This highlights a pretty basic misconception: For every job, though, the No. 1 thing we look for is general cognitive ability, and its not I.Q. Its learning ability. Its the ability to process on the fly. Its the ability to pull together disparate bits of information. Hey genius, that is I.Q. Now, I.Q. isnt just some static number that you rated on a test, that one time. But all of those cognitive abilities ultimately go into determining your I.Q. So, saying, its not just based on a single, static number. Well, thats fine, but saying that its NOT I.Q., on the other hand, is pretty short-sighted.
