This hits close to my heart in my home state of Minnesota. My mother was from Ely and probably born in that hospital. The closure of these hospitals to pregnant women does not enhance safety. Whether this is the unintended or intended consequence of an ACOG guideline based solely on opinion (Level C) remains to be seen. Sadly, knowing what I now know about ACOGs opinion committee I cant be sure of their motive. But if they did not intend for this to happen even retracting their unscientific immediately available rule now would likely be futile. This is another example of the damage done by short sighted do-gooders in a world gone mad. Stupidity and fear rule the land of the free and the home of the brave.
