This hoary bat (Lasiurus cinereus) was brought into Dr. Brian - TopicsExpress

This hoary bat (Lasiurus cinereus) was brought into Dr. Brian Carvers office at Tennessee Tech University by a local individual who found him while sweeping leaves off of his porch. Lasiurid bats (red bats, hoary bats, silver-haired bats, etc.) in the southern states dont hibernate in caves, but roost in leaf clusters still on trees, in leaf litter on the ground, or underground in animal burrows during especially cold weather. They are often still active in the winter on warm nights. After a drink of water and maybe a small snack, this guy will be released to go on his way!
