This horse came in after his owner noticed that he had a spike - TopicsExpress

This horse came in after his owner noticed that he had a spike stuck through the back of his leg. Luckily for him it had missed all the vital structures, and he wasn’t lame. We sedated him to clip, clean and examine the wound, and when we were satisfied that it wasn’t serious, we performed IVRP, a technique which delivers antibiotics to the affected area. After a few days of bandaging and painkillers he was ready to go home. One of the other interesting things about this horse was his conformation. It is likely he was broken in far too young and ridden by someone too heavy, hence the sway back that he has. He was also brought in wearing a nasty chain headcollar, so we soon made that more comfy with a special ACE noseband!
