USIs not validating in the online system There may be the odd occasion that a student has written their USI number on an enrolment form for you, but when you enter this into the CRM when trying to submit your course you are getting an error message. This could be due to a number of things: 1. Check that you have entered the number correctly. Ensure that you have not made any typos - paying particular attention to things such as 5 looking like s etc. 2. If students have entered their name on your enrolment forms differently to how they entered it when they created their USI - this will cause an error. Students will have been forced to use their exact legal name when registering on the USI site - as it will need to have matched the ID document they selected. So if for example your students name is Neville James Allen on his drivers licence - this is what will be recorded in the USI system. If this student then completes an enrolment form as Jim Allen (because this is what he is known as) - even if he puts down his correct USI number, it will not validate. 3. The student may have entered an incorrect DOB on their form. Some students may be averse to providing their real DOB on forms etc. Thes students may supply you with a DOB that is slightly different - eg they change the year by 1. This will not validate in the system. We recommend explaining how the validation of the USI works to your students at the beginning of the session so they understand the importance of not only writing clearly, but making sure they enter the correct details on the enrolment forms
