This is AUOW adopted Alex. On December 2nd Alex went in for emergency surgery for a herniated disc...he had 1 ruptured disc as well as 4 compressed discs. It had come on suddenly after Alex had been playing with his dad Kerry in the snow. Kerry noticed something wasnt right when Alex couldnt jump in the car or on the couch at home. Later that evening when they went to go for a walk, Alex couldnt stand on his rear legs and Kerry rushed him to the Emergency Animal Hospital where it was diagnosed he had a herniated disc. Time is of the essence with this injury as there is a very small window of opportunity or the paralysis can be permanent. Thankfully Alex has an amazing dad who got him into a vet right away and didnt hesitate to give the go ahead for the surgery . Surgery was successful but they dont know the extent of the nerve damage caused by the ruptured disc. Now it is just wait and see if he can regain feeling in his lower body. Could be up to 3 weeks. It will be a long process and Alex will have to go into a rehab program. Kerry is a wonderful doggie dad and completely dedicated to Alexs care. We cant tell you how happy we are to see this little nub wag!! We have been waiting for this good news! It is a positive sign but Alex still has a long road to recovery!
