This is AWFUL. PLEASE STOP TELLING ME THAT I HAVE GOTTEN TOO EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS AND I NEED TO LET IT GO: *Just because I dont live in Ferguson doesnt mean I dont have a vested interest or feel a sense of responsibility. I grew up in this neighborhood for much of my childhood. Ive watched it change into what is is now... *I have to explain to my own sons how to handle situations simply because they are African American males. *I have worked in this area for the past 17 years. These families are my families. *I have to assure my 6-7 year old students that their school days will be safe and their own families are fine. A parent told me on Monday that burning the QT means they took her grocery store away. Now she cant even get milk. *Justice has YET to be served for Mike Brown! I could go on and on... I took my sons out last night. We protested. We missed the luting and tear gas by 12 minutes. Yet, I still know that I have not made a difference to help. Rest assured though, when I find my place in this, I/ WE WILL REACT, CONTRIBUTE, AND HELP TO MAKE THAT DIFFERENCE!! #IAmMikeBrown #HandsUpDontShoot
