This is American cane. You may recognize it better by the second picture. It looks kinda like sugar cane. For the last 16 years I have done all I can (non chemically) to kill this horrible stuff! Now I mostly resort to chopping it down all through out the summer to discourage new growth. This year it kinda got away from me and now it is flowering. My first reaction was pure horror at the thought of how much more of my yard may be overtaken next year!!! But as I stood by planning my attack I started to hear a humming noise and upon closer inspection noticed that there were honey bees all over those flowers! Ok cane, you win, only within the confines of where you are now! I wonder how the honey will taste? :)
