This is BRILLIANT and perfectly reflects my views. Everyone should view this. Please. A couple of weeks ago at the storm water conference, following me speaking up to the Rhodes scholar advisor to the governor about the failures in Michigans stormwater program, resulting in me getting the opportunity for a personal meeting, someone I greatly respect asked me if I dont just get tired of the political fight? She asked if there wasnt another something for me to focus on. She seemed to be scolding me in a way.....I get that response from some who are within the programs that do exist......and I get it, I really do. And i do get tired of the fight. Its exhausting. But these are the great lakes. 20 percent of the worlds fresh water supply. I have a unique knowledge, like we all do, relative to the path we each walk. Mine just happens to be about stormwater and water resource management. My perspective is unique here because Ive worked with other state programs outside of michigan. Few if any others in this region seem to share that. When I meet those who do, they always agree 100 percent with my view. The discrepancy is both shocking and disturbing. So I feel a moral obligation, an ethical responsibility, to continue to try to initiate a paradigm shift, and an updating in how the program is designed, implemented, administered, so that it IS MEANINGFUL....so that it functionally protects this amazing resource. I must continue to try, I must be tenacious, even if its irritating to some.
