This is Barney’s 2nd time on the list and he really really needs a guardian angel now. Reportedly found wandering Brooklyn streets, volunteers said about him “Barney is a gentle boy. He walks calmly on the leash. He sits on command. He is affectionate. If you want a life-long best friend, Barney is your dog. He is waiting patiently to meet you at the Brooklyn Animal Care & Control Center. Come take him for short walk. You will be glad you did!” Found to be in decent health when he came in, he’s now caught the shelter cold. His Safer exam scored him as needing an “experienced” owner. He wasn’t pleased with the ‘tag’ game and got a little nervous when that strange dog came in the room. BUT he was super friendly with the Assessor, didn’t mind the food bowl being moved. Likely Barney got a bit anxious in this crowded, noisy place surrounded by strange barking dogs! So Barney needs a foster or adopter tonight who understands all of that, who knows that he is a great “people” dog and who knows how to work with a guy like Barney to ease his stress and fear around other dogs. Are you that someone? Can you see this hunk sitting in your living room, mellowing out, giving you doggie kisses, going for long walks? If you think you’re the one—speak up now. Its not likely Barney will get another chance.
