(1 John 1:8 NIV) 2. You must repent of your sin. Repent means to change your heart, mind, and direction. Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38 NIV) 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 NIV) 2 Corinthians 7:10 Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. (2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV) Acts 26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’ (Acts 26:18 NIV) 3. You must believe in your heart and confess with your mouth. If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Receive Water Baptism and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. I. The Baptism of Water is an outward expression of inward change; symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and our old man/life. II. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the accompanying gift of Salvation that adds power to our lives and witness. 5. Live a life of obedience. 5 points to living obedient: A. Get in the word of God. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Philippians 4:6, 7 NIV) pray continually, (1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:18 NIV) C. Get into a Bible-based church. Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding. (Jeremiah 3:15 NIV) But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. (1 Corinthians 12:18 NIV) not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:25 NIV) So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4:11, 12 NIV) D. Fellowship with other believers. Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV) Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken. (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NIV) As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. (Proverbs 27:17 NIV) E. Be a witness to others. He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
