This is CA State politics but relevant to all who vote. What is this disunity from? I believe it is the Libertarian message Neel Kashkari brings to the GOP. Having distanced themselves from Rand Paul for Isolationist bent, the GOP wishes to brand themselves more Conservative (not reflected in policy or intent to date). CA has its own unique brand and the growing immigrant population and increasing dynamic range between the well off and the disenfranchised requires a unique approach to winning the bid for governorship. Clearly Jerry Brown has failed CA in building the California Economy with his tax and spend policies. The large and expensive projects such as High Speed Rail (the Hi Tech land of Tomorrow dream of progressives since the late 50s when Eisenhowers infrastructural upgrade of the Nations Highways was big news) and the Double Tunnel of Trouble water project (cost unknown but expected to be huge) will spend CA into tomorrow land. The Double Tunnel project will only ingrain EPA Federal Hegemony into the already complex and troubling water re-distribution programs; citing Biological opinion and Endangered species as motivators for how to dispense the limited water supply in CA. This politics of water ts already causing an agricultural economic crises if not depression in Central CA. So given Kashkari does not support these projects and desires to rebuild Californias monumentally huge economy back to its potential. (it was 6th largest world economy way back when - questionably 13th but touted as much higher by the Brown fudge accounting system). If California has a chance to prosper we might consider priorities. Without a viable economy all else falls into something less important than feeding ones family and paying the bills.
