This is Day 3 of 5 of posting songs that have meaning to me. I was nominated by Pam, and Im grateful for such a challenge as I enjoy post starters and ideas. The 1913 Massacre was written by Woody Guthrie (& performed here by Arlo Guthrie). While not one of the most notable Guthrie songs, it caught my attention because of my love of history and the preservation of. It also throws in a bit of Union tension as well. Recently re-recorded live at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, Arlos intro tells that hes required to sing it when he performs in Northern Michigan and that the song is just about identical to the newspaper article that his father read about the story. The only thing that remains today is the archway of the entrance and a few historical markers. I would like to go see it in person one day. youtu.be/FxPnIHaqZJI
