This is El Pasos time. The Economist recently titled a report about the vibrancy of the border The Lessons of El Paso; national news programs continue to seek our input on issues of international trade and security; and we are part of the progress being made in Congress on issues like the VA and civil liberties. Thats because we are bringing El Pasos experience, vision and ambition to our office in the Capitol, shaping public opinion and public policy at the national level so that we can achieve our priorities for El Paso. You helped make this happen, and Im grateful. Because of you, we were second in Texas in the percent of contributions raised from small dollar, local contributions in our 2012 campaign. And we just learned that in this election cycle, we are first in the percent of contributions raised from local donors, higher than any other member of Congress. That means we are unique among the 535 members of Congress in building local support for a campaign with national implications. Theres only one thing left to do. Today is Election Day. For this progress to continue, for us to realize El Pasos potential, we have to vote. So if you havent voted, make today the day. If you have voted, then please reach out to family, friends and colleagues to make sure that they take the time to vote. Thank you for helping us achieve so much in such a short period of time, and thank you for continuing to work to show the rest of the country the positive lessons of El Paso and the border.
