This is Ellie, 10 yrs old German shorthiar Pointer. She is a patient of OrthoPets Denver Clinic. She has a paw deformity due to a hunting trip injury from 2008. A toe was amputated 2/2013 and she developed a collapse of the paw (splaying) due to weakness in the digital (toe) ligaments post amputation. She was no longer able to hunt. Dr. Mich and the OrthoPets Denver team fitted her with a custom brace 10/6/2013. The brace is to attach the custom insole, which protects her damaged digits (toes). There is no issue with her carpus. This really demonstrates the often overlooked and yet serious impact of digit (toe) injuries and how well custom orthotic devices can return dogs to the life they love!
