This is Faber--a dog with a job. He works at the San Francisco Courthouse. His duty there is to comfort children, witnesses, and victims. The court environment can be intimidating and stressful for a lot of people. Most of us know how soothing the presence of a well-trained dog can be, so it is comforting to know that Faber is here to make the legal process run smoothly. Faber comes compliments of a Bay Area non-profit Canine Companions for Independence, which has a breeding program. The dogs are socialized for a year and a half by volunteers. And on Tuesday we found out that coincidentally, Faber got his training from ABC7 newscast director Jerry Sandy and his family. This is a story that you will only see on ABC7. abc7news/311642/ Do you have any experience with therapy dogs? How much do you think their presence in the courtroom can help?
