This is Henriette Delille, in 1837 she founded the order of the Sisters of Holy Family in New Orleans, the sisters cared for the enslaved and free people of color in New Orleans. In 2010, she became the first African American woman born in the United States to become Beatified in the Catholic Church, moving her 1 step closer to being named a saint. In Treme, (New Orleans) the oldest African American neighborhood in America there is a street named after her. Sisters of Holy Family exist today a predominately African American Convent.
