This is Jean Marie Montgrand, sorry that the audio is low but I will try and translate as best as I can.He set that he had set snares around Patterson and Serm Lake before christmas and went to check them the other day He picked up a few rabbits along the way as he continued on his route to check his other traps, there he met a bulldozer wrecking his trap line.He approached the individual on the machine and asked him who his contractor was,the person replied, and told him he was working for Big Bear. From there,Jean Marie said that he kept looking for his traps and finally found one and dug it out of the snow. And that was the only one he found out of several traps that he had set.I asked him how much one trap was and he said around 15 dollars ,the furs are down in price now but if he would have caught one in each trap ,it would have amounted to several hundreds of dollars.I asked if he was gonna set his traps in that area again and he said not until spring .Jean Marie said that he has been trapping since he was 18 and he is a 65 year old retired man.He worked for the government as a highway operator but during his breaks he always trapped ,and to this day he said he paid for his trappers and gun licence every year.I asked him about what his thoughts were of this situation and he said,If I took the door off its hinges on someones house and left it on the side of the house ,how would they feel ?thats how I feel.I wonder what they would think of me if I did that, they wouldnt like it one bit and thats how I feel now. I asked his wife Delphine what she thought of the situation and she said,if he is a trapper then he should know better than to wreck traplines. Jean Marie also said that workers should be made aware of where traplines are, and to leave things that do not belong to them.
