This is Ken and I want to share something that happened to one of my close friends that is a medically retired Combat Wounded Veteran while he was enroute to a sanctioned Wounded Warrior Project couples event. To respect my friends privacy I will not use his name in this posting. On Saturday he left Jacksonville, Florida with his wife and service dog via American Airlines to Miami, Florida and then proceeded to their next gate to catch their connecting American Airlines flight. This is where the problems began. At the gate the ticket agents refused to let him board the plane stating that pets were not allowed! My friend showed his ADA Service Dog paperwork plus his dog was wearing its working vest. Long story short my friend and his wife never made it to the WWP event and rented a car and drove home. If you live in the Jacksonville, Florida area this story will be reported via the local Fox News affiliate in the morning. I am not saying to boycott American Airlines but they need to address this situation and ensure that ALL Employees are properly trained to ensure that no person with disabilities is refused service due to ignorance of the law.
