This is Lolas story , May 2013 Craigavon , Northern Ireland We were helping this owner before the campaign started and were informed at the time this happened the dog owner spoke with an Irish accent , many of them moved into the same house facing her , the house was always packed with visitors , they had cages and bragged about missing cats and kittens and what they had done to them. One kitten in particular these scum described to the owner the suffering it went through and how the kitten was quietly sitting in the cage awaiting his fate,.. He and many other cats in this area were never seen again. The dogs were hidden by the time the police arrived and the owner a single mother living alone with young children was to terrified too make a statement as they live facing her .. She couldnt take the risk of reporting as she feared for her , her other pets and childrens safety. We were advised at the time they were known to the police ? however unable to verify on what capacity . After this and many other stories similar ,the NISNTAC campaign was initiated a year later.. Please keep your pets safe ... and we need to stop fearing these scum Lolas owners statement “When Lola was attacked last weekend I was on crutches and unable to walk with a sprained foot. I saw Lola sitting at the window like she always does but as I was hovering and said to her “ I’ll let you in, in a minute” but with seconds all I could hear was her screaming and dogs growling and without any thought of my foot I threw the crutches down and ran out. I seen the 2 dogs , one staffy had her by her mouth the other had her back end and they were on top of her, Lola wasn’t getting a chance so I was trying to pull them off to help her but she was thrown around like a rag. I was screaming for someone to help me but the owners stood there watching . laughing and when I finally got her from the dogs grasp she was terrified, she was hissing hysterically as if they still had her and just kept trying and trying to run away, there was blood everywhere. I finally got to her and cuddled her trying to let her know I was there but she was inconsolable .. The dogs owner started screaming at me saying he would get his sister to kick my f**k in etc I’m not sure why? Or if it was because I interfered with the attack as he seemed to get a kick out of what was happening.... They have only moved into the area which was once peaceful and quiet until they came. I raced Lola the vet and it wasn’t looking good but the vet immediately gave her pain meds, her jaw was broken in 3 places and no longer attached to anything Lola has since made a full recovery but this and many other cases like this is why we need to keep fighting and why authorities need to take animal cruelty seriously within the law We need a dedicated police unit , a unit designed to specialise in the investigation on Animal Cruelty and Neglect because they are the only ones strong and powerful enough to tackle people like this PSNI do not have enough training and knowledge on the current legislation , we do not believe Animal cruelty reports are investigated accordingly and people like this still walk among us We need these people tracked down , arrested and the PSNI to prosecute them We need a dedicated police unit here in Northern Ireland and was one of the aims of the Rally
