This is Love I was prepared to share another truth but then I - TopicsExpress

This is Love I was prepared to share another truth but then I realized that I never fully shared what I see love as, and then I thought I should take care of such oversight. Firstly, you must understand that this understanding of love is not yet the full picture, as understanding is built on knowledge, and knowledge on truth. But as much as I expect the picture to get fuller, this is the skeleton of my understanding of Love. In 1 John 4:9, John wrote, ‘In this was manifested the love of God towards, because that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.’ Jesus reiterated this point when He said to His disciples, ‘Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,’ (John 15:13). In these two statements is the skeleton of the definition of love. In these two statements is the very meaning of love. It is not like Jesus didn’t know what He was talking about; in fact, He is the living representation of Love towards us. I remember during the Christmas celebration, we read a passage in Luke when the angels appeared to the shepherds and told them about the great tidings that have befallen mankind. Ever wonder why they phrased it like that? I did. You see, revelation provided us with a better picture. When God was asking who He would send to make the world a better place, when God was asking who He would send to save the world, the entire universe got quiet, and there was no one found. Until the lamb stepped forward. I always thought revelation was a vision of what happened at the time John was writing it, but a whole part of revelation happened even before the creation of man, at the beginning of time, especially this part I have highlighted. God had a choice to make, send His one and only Son or allow the world to continue the way it was. Jesus had a choice to make also, go through the sacrifice and save mankind or give up on mankind. These choices were real for these two entities who are one. But guess what; God released His Son to come to the world knowing fully well that He would die in this world by the Hand of Man. Ask any creator, the greatest shame of all is to die by the hand of your creation. Yet, He didn’t mind, God didn’t mind, Jesus didn’t mind, because when Jesus died, God Himself died! So, this is Love; He gave up the priciest of His possession, the best part of Himself for me and you for who is God without His word? He gave up His position in Heaven to die for my sake. He gave up everything just for me, and you. Then He came to the world and died the worst possible death of all, like a thief at the hand of His creation. Oh, what a love! This, therefore, is how I see love; give everything in me, with me, for me for that thing. Because anything short of this would be a spit in the face of Love Himself. Thank You God for showing me what Love truly is.
