This is NOT a rant... Today I had so many co workers come up to me and say hey I saw this thing on autism last night and thought of you (meaning Chuck and Maddie)and Shaylee.. We are so thankful that for that moment you thought of us but evidently it was more then a moment because you slept and still remembered to tell me today.. Wake up ladies and gents! I dont know what has made me more sick... The fact that it is now 1:68 children (up over 30% in 2 years) from 1:88, and just to let you know this new statistic has been given based off of 11 states! Thats not even half the US and done in the common age bracket of children 8 years old... Shaylee is 7 and Missouri was one of those 11 states so her age wasnt event part of the 1:68... So what makes me more sick.. The fact that autism is rapidly rising or the fact that members of the CDC can go to bed fat and happy bc in their eyes this is not an epidemic? You dont have to be a parent that has a child with autism to be heard! Please please I beg you, shay begs you along with so many of her pals... Speak your mind loud and proud! Look at Cristal Wolfe Hedrick and Brent! They have seen what autism can do and what can also be DONE with autism... And I would bet my yearly income that each of you either A) have a family member w autism B) know someone very close that has been effected with autism or sadly C) with this climbing rate is going to be effected within the next year by someone with autism. Please please make a stand! And I will also add that at the time Shaylee was diagnosed she was not only the youngest in Taney County but also the first (!!!) girl! And that is all thanks to a wonderful friend that was cued into things Dr Michael Bayes..
