This is National Heroes Day in The Bahamas, I decided to find out what was a National Hero and this is what I found....A National Hero is someone who beyond that has made significant positive contributions to the growth and development of society, and represents all of us. And I thought, ok, there are a few of them but I have decided that I would take this opportunity to recognize...MY PERSONAL HEROES. Edward and Beverly Deveaux, My Parents. They have been married for 48 years, provided a stable home environment for their three children; made personal sacrifices to educate and provided for our financial, spiritual and emotional needs. For 48 years, they provided the prefect examples of what it meant to obey the vows that they took on their wedding day, Wednesday, October 5, 1966 – “to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. They have both been tested with sickness and are BOTH CANCER SURVIVORS.. They have continued the parental role as EXCELLENT Grandparents and therefore, on this National Heroes Day, I salute MY HEROES, They didn’t run for any political office; they don’t have any buildings named in their honour; they havent been honoured by Her Majesty but I know (AND GOD CAN ATTEST) that they contributed to the development of this country by pouring into the lives of their children; grandchildren and many individuals in this society; they have served as examples to many individuals and for that reason, They will always be HEROES TO ME!!!!!
