This is Shady, 15.3h TWH/QH. He was a beloved stallion to an elderly lady in his previous life. When his owner passed her husband either didnt know how to care for him or had no interest in Shady and he was not fed for some time. We suspect some abuse as he exhibits anxiety in many situations. His halter had been left on and he now has scarring where it had grown into his nose and cheeks. The left picture is on 11 Nov 2013, the day when he was saved from a bullet and moved to a neighbor. Although the neighbor tried she was unable to continue caring for him and contacted Second Chances Equine Rescue Inc. in January to pick him up. At the middle of January he was moved to the rescue and scheduled for castration as soon as the Vet would agree he could withstand the surgery (Feb 6). The right picture is from this past weekend when we were taking body shots of all the rescues, 2 Aug 2014. Shadys winter coat is much darker and surprised us all when he shed it to this beautiful gelding. Hes King of the pasture second only to the Queen in charge. Shady is gaited at free movement but we have not evaluated him for gaits at this time. He does have speed. He is available for adoption to a forever home.
