This is Spike. He is a Cheaglehund an is about 5 pounds of pure dynamite. I rescued him from another family who could not keep him because of his nipping at their small children. I am a disabled veteran and got Spike to be a companion to me and my other companion animal (a Jack Russel) and our 14 year old Labrador. SPIKE is a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I have bred and trained multiple breeds totaling at least 150 dogs in my lifetime. I dont know if Spike was ever abused or is just a domineering and controlling dog (my son has same breed w no problems) but we have done everything to give him a safe and loving home to no avail. He will be fine for days then just acts like he is snapping in his mind at other times. He has bit me four times. I have never retaliated other than verbal scolding and have just suffered through it. I have taken three different bites on my hands and two on my stomach. SPIKE needs a home ASAP. As a disabled veteran I need a therapy dog not one that has had possible past trauma and/or is just domineering and controlling. I dont want to get rid of him because he can be as sweet as an angel most of the time. Unfortunately, his unpredictable behavior has become very burdensome for me and our other animals. I have had him since August trying to give him a chance. Spike needs a home ASAP or I will be forced to take him to the Vet which I will have a hard time forgiving myself for..but am left with no other choices. I gave 20.00 for a re homing fee and would take the same for him to have a good home if anyone is willing to take him. I would prefer you have a fenced in yard too because he likes to try and bolt out the door and heads straight for the street. I hope someone can help Spike. Like I said he can be very sweet and loving too. But now he is my lil Mr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
